Indonesian artist Irene Agrivina (b.1976) graduated from the Graphic Design Department at ISI Yogyakarta achieved her Master’s degree in Culture and Religion from Sanata University Yogyakarta.
A technologist and activist for open source technology, she works closely between art, technology and societal issues in an unimagined world. A cofounder and director of HONF, a platform dedicated to fostering open expression and promoting technological art and culture, she also co-founded together with interdisciplinary female peers, the all-female XXLab, a women’s collective dedicated to the fusion of art, science and free technology whose project ‘Soya C(O)U(L)ture was awarded the prestigious Prix Art Electronica in 2015. Arivina’s groundbreaking works, including C6H1206 +02 earned UIFVA awards for the media arts category which was later showcased globally. She became one of the 6 women pioneers for innovation in SE Asia and Australia, named by Asialink, a thinktank of the University of Melbourne.
