"Inspired by a famous Zen temple garden in Japan, Ma explores the Japanese concept of the quiet space ‘between’ – intentional gaps where possibility can unfold. It is a meditation on the importance of creating and holding space for reflection, in the midst of a noisy and demanding world.

The wall sculpture is made from bronze elements arranged in a circle. Cast from textile, the bronze embodies the traces of emotions and embedded memories associated with donated textiles, in a more resilient form. It continues my inquiry into the power of art to effect healing and to build intercultural bridges." –Hiromi Tango
