Nature morte (2024) takes as its starting point an archival image from a television news broadcast, showing palm trees set on fire in Milan's Piazza del Duomo in 2017. These recently planted trees provoked violent reactions, revealing tensions deeply rooted in racist attitudes.
To this image, the artist adds other representations of palm trees, layered with ashes and fragments collected during his travels. The palms become silent witnesses to a broader story of displacement and violence inscribed on both bodies and landscapes. Part of the series The Conference of Palms, this work examines how these plants, stripped of agency, nonetheless bear the marks of human struggles.
