This interlinked sculptural form embodies metamorphosis through continuity, movement, and accumulation. Each carved segment functions as an individual unit, yet only gains meaning through its connection to others, echoing the iterative processes of waxing and dyeing in batik. The coiling, almost animate form suggests growth and transformation over time, where structure emerges from repetition. As with Jaafar Latif’s abstraction of traditional motifs into modern visual rhythms, this work transforms patterned logic into a spatial and bodily experience, proposing metamorphosis as an ongoing process rather than a final state.
