This work draws inspiration from Borneo's river systems, where life radiates outward from a common source. The radial layout and central void mirror how rivers influence settlement, memory, and movement in Sarawak, flowing from a single point into various directions that support communities along their banks. The repeated carved gestures resemble marks accumulated over time, labor, and lived experience, implying that the land itself holds memory. Instead of portraying a literal landscape, the form functions as a cultural map, one that reflects the Indigenous view of land as a living entity where spirituality, community, and nature are deeply connected.
