Biography

John Low (b. 1958, Singapore) is an installation-based visual artist. His primary interest centres on landscape representations of the rural-urban city.

 

Since his participation in Singapore Biennale 2011 with “I have been skying”, Low has expanded his research to include the development of Chinese ink practices locally and in East Asia, with a special focus on the contemporaneity of Chinese ink practices. 

 

Low has participated in exhibitions and projects including Towards Happiness, Prosperity & Progress: Reflections on the Singapore Spirit at The Private Museum in 2025, Singapore Biennale 2011 at Old Kallang Airport, 36 Ideas from Asia: Contemporary Southeast Asian Art at the National Museum of Abruzzo in 2003, Nokia Singapore Art 99 at Singapore Art Museum in 1999, and Landscape at NAFA Gallery in 1997.
