Marla Bendini at OH! Open House's For the House, Against the House 2023

At OH! Open House’s FTHATH 2023 curated by Adele Tan, Singaporean trans artist Marla Bendini (b.1986) delivers a deeply personal and provocative presentation. As a cross-disciplinary artist and trans woman working across painting, sound, text, and performance, Bendini explores the erasure, fragmentation, and reassertion of trans visibility and desire.

Her figures in her durational wall “mural” unfold to embody trauma, anxiety, and hope, questing for the remembrance of a history and community that are tied up with Orchard Road.
