This circular wooden sculpture explores metamorphosis as a shift from surface to structure. Composed of repeated carved units, the work recalls the rhythmic logic of batik motifs fragmented, abstracted, and reassembled into a cohesive field. Like Jaafar Latif’s modernist batik compositions, the pattern here is not ornamental but generative, evolving through repetition and variation. The circular form suggests continuity and cyclical transformation, where cultural memory is not fixed but constantly reconfigured through material and process. Batik’s planar language is thus translated into depth, weight, and architectural presence.
