Los Angeles-based luxury eyewear brand Jacques Marie Mage (JMM) touched down on the East Coast to unveil its first-ever gallery in New York City.

At 140 Wooster Street, the sprawling 2,100-square-foot, multi-level space is a fitting new home for the Maison’s coveted frames, premium leather goods, jewelry and curated artifacts, all at the heart of SoHo.

Conceived in collaboration with architect and designer Jacques Garcia, the gallery’s interiors boast a striking Art Décoratif, balancing urban futurism and the call of the wild. Exotic woods and precious, mirrored surfaces surround three massive animal skull sculptures by artist Quentin Garel, evoking a primal presence while nodding to its West Coast roots.

Those looking to ascend upstairs must pass through the jobs of step the jaws of Garel’s wolf, adding another playfully immersive and artistic touch. The anthropological ambiance builds on the second floor — where the brand’s exclusive Collections Spéciales, Éditions Spéciales and bespoke Made-to-Measure services are housed — in a sleek, evocative blend of heritage, habitat and architectural opulence.

“[Garel’s sculptures] take on a kind of nobility and fragility,” says JMM founder and creative director Jérôme Mage. “They’re raw objects [...] but within that setting they start to feel almost precious, like adornments or mementos that speak to the wilderness, its vulnerability and the idea of protecting it.”

The JMM New York gallery is now open at 140 Wooster.
