Vincent Fournier presents Uchronie, a solo show at Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris.

11 April - 17 September 2023

The "Uchronie" exhibition explores our relationship with nature and technology through the lens of an alternate version of history. By posing intriguing questions such as "What if animals were gifted with poetry?" or “What if we walk on Mars while remaining on Earth?”, French artist-photographer Vincent Fournier (b. 1970, Burkina Faso) examines the implications and possibilities of such imaginative scenarios and presents the alternative historical narratives as if they were factual accounts. Uchronie blurs the line between reality and fiction, prompting visitors to contemplate the intricate relationships and parallel stories between history, technology, nature, and the possibilities of a different evolutionary path for life.

Driven by the most representative utopias of the 20th and 21st centuries, the two major themes of Uchronie: space and augmented nature, Vincent Fournier reveals what he calls “slivers of the future” in the past or the present, inventing stories, and journeys beyond reality.

Curated by Christine Germain-Donnat, the Chief Curator and Director of the Museum, Vincent Fournier presents a collection of over sixty works in various mediums, including photographs, sculpture, video, mosaic, jewellery, and 3D printing, alongside the permanent collection.

The exhibition runs from the 11th of April till the 17th of September at Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, Hôtel de Mongelas, 62, rue des Archives, 75003 Paris.
