Ines Katamso is a Franco-Indonesian artist whose work unfolds at the intersection of ecology, culture, and myth. Working with natural materials and subjects, such as earth, recycled plastic, and botanical observation, she develops slow processes that explore the spiritual and environmental entanglements between human beings and their ecosystems.
Her practice draws on animist cosmologies and vernacular knowledge, particularly those rooted in Javanese and Balinese traditions. Through acts of gathering and pigment-making, she reconsiders the earth not simply as a backdrop, but as a storyteller and a living archive of memory and identity. She regularly collaborates with local communities and ecological networks, incorporating fieldwork and situated methodologies into sculptural installations, paintings, and living systems.
Katamso lives and works in Bali (Indonesia).
