Press release

From 15 October 2026 and in partnership with Mizuma Gallery (Singapore), Cuturi Gallery Paris will be presenting its third exhibition at the Palais-Royal, Threads of Lineage, curated by Alia Swastika.

True to its mission of fostering intercultural exchange between Europe and Southeast Asia, Cuturi Gallery brings together five contemporary Indonesian artists: Ari Bayuaji, Budi Agung Kuswara, Ines Katamso, Iwan Effendi, and Meta Enjelita.

Presented alongside Art Basel Paris, the exhibition will take place during the vibrant Paris Art Week and will showcase the vitality of the Indonesian art scene to an international audience. The title Threads of Lineage evokes the way family histories, collective memories, and cultural identities are woven across generations, within a context shaped by colonialism, political upheaval, and social transformation.

Through multidisciplinary practices, these artists explore notions of transmission, lineage, and heritage, drawing upon traditional materials, ancestral narratives, and contemporary imaginaries. Their works offer a sensitive reflection on the invisible ties that connect individuals to their history, while revealing the diversity of artistic expressions within a contemporary Indonesia that is plural, dynamic, and constantly evolving.

Threads of Lineage curated by  Alia Swastika, is on view at Cuturi Gallery Paris, Palais-Royal, 24 Galerie de Montpensier, from 15 October to 19 December, 2026.
