Inspired by pre-historic paintings, French sculptor Lionel Sabatte has created a pair of goats using concrete and iron mixed with vegetal fibres. These beautiful sculptures can be found at the Grasslands at Jurong Lake Gardens.

For the artist, these materials perfectly encapsulate the concept of being “under construction”. Concrete has played an important role in the development of human civilisation and remains so, connecting the sculptures to the ever progressing present with humankind’s storied past.

The sculptures were created by Lionel Sabatte in January 2020 as part of the Art Encounters residency by Art Outreach Singapore and Cuturi Gallery. The sculptures were on display at Orchard Road during Singapore Art Week 2020. They were donated by art patron, and founder of Cuturi Gallery, Kevin Troyano Cuturi and were installed at Jurong Lake Gardens in December 2020.
