As current measures have now allowed for cultural institutions to reopen to the public, gallery-goers and culture vultures can now enjoy these exhibitions that celebrate both local and international artists this July
 
 

1/5 Twofold by Genevieve Chua

What The Twofold visual arts exhibition by local painter Genevieve Chua has been extended in light of the new Phase 2 measures, to allow audiences to view the artist's largest solo showcase in person at STPI Gallery

 

The works on exhibit each probe a deeper discussion on using painting as a visual medium, featuring a collection of 30 works from the artist's residency from November 2019, as well as two separate ongoing series of her own.

2/5 Fragile by Alex Face

What You may have spotted the works of Bangkok-based graffiti artist Alex Face in the charming neighbourhood of Tanjong Pagar at Spottiswoode Park road, or even in the catalogue pages of Singapore toy design and manufacturing company, Mighty Jaxx. This month, the celebrated artist takes the spotlight at Art Porters Gallery, marking his first exhibition in Asia outside of Thailand.

 

Featuring a series of works that showcases the artist's poetic take on the current state of the world, Fragile is a timely reminder of the beauty that exists even in these challenging times.

3/5 Some Of The Many Things That I Want To Remember by Tomoko Kashiki

What Kyoto-based artist Tomoko Kashiki will be showcasing a series of seven recent paintings in her solo exhibition at Ota Fine Arts gallery, the second showcase that the artist has held in Singapore. 

 

Known for a fluid yet intricate dream-like style that is reminiscent of traditional Buddhist paintings, her paintings often portray singular characters that pulsate between reality and imagination.

4/5 The Summer Show by Cuturi Gallery

What Cuturi Gallery hosts its group exhibition featuring a line-up of 11 local and international artists, whose works collectively span an eclectic mix of visual mediums including mixed media, sculpture and painting.

 

Curated in an effort to inspire new ways of perceiving art, gallery goers can look forward to new installations by Singaporean artist Odelia Tang, French artist Lionel Sabatté who held a highly-raved exhibition in Singapore earlier this year, as well as Italian artist Gioele Amaro whose painting Selfstanding Selfie reflects the element of digitalisation in the traditional canvas form.

5/5 How To Desire Differently

What Nine local artists, including Jason Wee, Zulkhairi Zulkiflee, Farizi Noorfauzi and Adeline Kueh among many others, come together for a group exhibition at the Lim Hak Tai Gallery that showcases the complex representations of bodies of difference.

 

Covering issues of race, gender and sexuality, it is curated as a timely event to bring important conversations of identity, position of minorities and diverse bodies to the fore.
