Cuturi Gallery is proud to introduce c/residency, an artist-focused programme which supports two types of artist residencies: local and international. The programme is committed to supporting and nurturing artistic talent, providing a conducive environment for artists-in-residence to focus on their creative pursuits and gain new insights into their practice.

Driven by a communal spirit and atmosphere, it encourages mutual sharing and exchange of artistic knowledge, skills and collaboration. Residency artists will be able to interact with fellow artists-in-residence, as well as artists and creatives in the local community from various backgrounds and practices.

As part of the programme offerings, c/residency invites both local and international artists to work in the studios located within the gallery’s premises. The programme will culminate with a solo exhibition at the gallery, showcasing works completed during the duration of the residency.

Artists-in-residence will receive the gallery’s full support towards artistic exploration, experimentation, and growth. The artist-in-residence will be able to benefit from the gallery’s expertise and resources spanning marketing and communications, digital capabilities, and networking opportunities, among others.

  • The Space

Nestled in a conservation shophouse of 400 sqm, Cuturi Gallery stands in Singapore’s vibrant arts and cultural precinct of Bras Basah.Bugis, home to a myriad of independent art spaces and museums. Spread across three levels, the ground floor is dedicated to the gallery’s exhibition spaces, with the remaining levels housing multi-functional art spaces.

The building also features a rooftop opening for the gallery to host events and programmes with artists and collectors.

  • Local Artist Residency , For Artists based in Singapore

    Local Artist Residency

    For Artists based in Singapore

Through this residency programme, Singapore-based artists will be able to gain exposure to the local art scene, and be part of the growing visual arts ecosystem. This is especially crucial for local artists who may have had limited opportunity to develop their artistic practice and present their work within an arts space. Local artists-in-residence will also be able to learn from and share their knowledge with fellow international residency artists within this creative framework and environment.

As part of c/residency, artists-in-residence will also have a public presentation opportunity in the form of an exhibition at the gallery. You will be supported by an established gallery to guide and assist you with the necessary preparation throughout this period.

The duration of the Local Artist Residency is discussed on a case-by-case basis upon selection.

  • International Artist Residency , For Artists based outside of Singapore

    International Artist Residency

For Artists based outside of Singapore

International artists are invited to a one-month residency in Singapore. This is a unique opportunity to immerse themselves and work in the vibrant and diverse environment of Singapore. It enables you to work in a global environment comprising a thriving art scene, with the potential to interact and work with some of the most promising local artists in the city-state. The solo exhibition at the end of the residency also provide you with an opportunity to showcase your work and connect with audiences based in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Cuturi Gallery is situated in Kampong Gelam, an ethnic enclave for the Malay community in Singapore, but also home to an eclectic mix of cultures and influences. Rich in cultural heritage, the area features the landmark Sultan Mosque and rows of shophouses, which house boutique designer and traditional artisan crafts shops, as well as bars and eateries.

The area also belongs to the larger neighbourhood of Bras Basah.Bugis, which is designated as Singapore’s arts and heritage district. It is interspersed with art spaces, galleries, and museums, including The Substation, National Museum of Singapore, and Singapore Art Museum. It also features the annual Singapore Night Festival, where local and international artists are invited to activate the various sites and spaces within the precinct.

As Singapore is located at the heart of Southeast Asia, the residency is also well-placed for you to explore the region, with places like Bali, Bangkok and Cambodia a short flight away.

The International Artist Residency includes a 36sqm space to work.
